The project is being funded by the cross-border project Interreg/CILIFO (Iberian Centre for Research and Fight Against Forest Fires), with an estimated investment of
€2.6 million.

Located on Rua Humberto Pacheco, next to the Municipal Fire Brigade, this is an infrastructure that operates in the areas of rescue and firefighting and also operates to provide the reception of private aircrafts, medical emergency aircrafts and firefighting. It is here that one helicopter from the INEM (National Institute of Medical Emergency) and another from ANEPC (National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection) are permanently located, both at the service of the entire region.

The current installation consists of an operating helipad, a support hangar and the Municipal Heliport administrative services building. This project therefore encompasses the construction of a new hangar, the expansion and remodelling of support areas for the existing hangar, the construction of a building with support areas for offices, storage rooms, sanitary facilities, changing rooms and technical areas.

The work is expected to take 18 months.
