The earthquake "was felt with maximum intensity IV (Modified Mercalli Scale) in the parishes of Norte Pequeno, Ribeira Seca and Calheta (municipality of Calheta, São Jorge island), and in the parishes of Santo Amaro, Norte Grande, Manadas and Urzelina ( municipality of Velas, São Jorge island) ", added the note.

The event was also felt with intensity III / IV in the parish of Rosais (municipality of Velas) on the island of São Jorge, III / IV in the parishes of Santo António and São Roque (municipality of São Roque do Pico).

This earthquake was also felt with intensity III in the parish of Guadalupe (municipality of Santa Cruz da Graciosa), as well as in the parish of Santa Luzia (municipality of Angra do Heroísmo, on the island of Terceira).

Civisa said that "it continues to monitor the evolution of the situation, issuing new communications if necessary".

Contacted by the Lusa agency, a source for the Azorean Civil Protection said that there was no record of material or human damage so far.
