According to the vaccination report released by the General Directorate of Health (DGS), 83 percent of the population has completed vaccination against the SARS-CoV-2 virus and 86 percent - almost 8.9 million people - already have at least one dose.

Recently, the task force that coordinates this process estimated that, next week, the goal of vaccinating 85 percent of the Portuguese will be reached, a percentage that the Government's easing of restrictions plan points to as a reference to advance to the third and final phase of easing of lockdown.

By age group, the biggest increase in the last week was registered in the complete vaccination of young people from 12 to 17 years old, which is now at 72% (about 450,000 people), while 87% (more than 538,000) are vaccinated with at least one dose.

The vaccination report even advances that 100% of the elderly in the age groups 65 to 79 years old and over 80 years old are already fully vaccinated, which represents a total of more than 2.3 million people.

As for coverage by region, only the Azores (79%) and the Algarve (76%) are below 80% of complete vaccination.

The North continues to lead in terms of the population that has completed its vaccination (85%), closely followed by the Centre and Alentejo, the two regions with 84%, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (81%) and Madeira (80%).
