During the regular Sunday service Father Paul Luckman, on behalf of the All Saints Lagoa congregation was presented with new Alter vessels for use in the church. These had been gifted by Margaret and John Brett who have moved back to live in the UK and Joanna Crawford who is the daughter of Sian Hughes-Roberts who had been a long standing member of the Lagoa congregation before her passing away.

The vessels were a gold Chalice and Ciborium from Margaret and John and a pair cut glass wine and water cruets from Joanna. The vessels were presented to Father Paul by Ken Nelms and Bob Chesters following a short speech by Allen Faulkner thanking Father Paul and the whole ministry team for their hard work, especially in keeping the Church open during the worst of the pandemic. Father Paul thanked Margaret, John and Joanna for their gifts and blessed the vessels for use in communion.

The Chalice and Ciborium were donated by Margaret and John Brett who, having resided in Portugal for almost 18 years, fully integrated themselves into Portugal life and developed a good grasp of the language. During that time they both became involved in a number of charities and raised €36,000 for the Autistic unit at the Algoz School and separately assisted the Social Help Centre in Porches. Margaret also continued her voluntary work educating operating Room Nurses across Europe, and indeed the world, and was a member of the Portuguese National Nurses Association. She attended the All Saints Anglican church at Lagoa for several years and later became its Warden. Their sudden need to leave their beloved Portugal and their many friends from a variety of nationalities, was in response to an urgent health situation for both of them encouraging them to return to the family in United Kingdom but taking with them many happy memories of a wonderful life in Portugal.
