According to the daily epidemiological bulletin, 2,232 people are hospitalised today, 100 less than on Friday, while in the intensive care units there is one more patient, for a total of 160, and not all hospitalisations are due to Covid-19.

The number of active cases decreased today, with 585,213 now, 15,111 fewer than on Friday, and in the last 24 hours, 34,497 people were reported to have recovered, adding up to a total of 2,463,423 recovered since the beginning of the pandemic.

Of the 50 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 28 occurred in the North region, 11 in the Centre, eight in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, two in the Algarve and one in the Alentejo.

The North continues to be the region of the country with the most new daily cases, with 6,382 more infections, followed by Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, with 5,778 more, the Centre (3,640), the Algarve (1,292), the Alentejo (1,125) the Azores (786) and Madeira (433).

In the last 24 hours, the number of contacts under surveillance registered a reduction of 12,332 people, now totalling 615,777.

According to the DGS, since March 2020, 3,069,128 cases of infection with SARS-CoV-2 have been registered in Portugal and 20,492 deaths associated with Covid-19 have been declared.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region has recorded 1,091,101 cases and 8,558 deaths.

In the North region, there were 1,180,020 infections and 6,249 deaths and the Central region now has an accumulated total of 452,325 infections and 3,631 deaths.

The Algarve has a total of 121,849 infections and 660 deaths and Alentejo has 106,150 cases and 1,143 deaths from covid-19.

The Autonomous Region of Madeira has had 70,638 infections and 176 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic and the Azores archipelago 47,045 cases and 75 deaths.

The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information disclosed in the DGS bulletin.

According to DGS, 1,432,563 cases of infection were recorded in men and 1,633,832 in women, with 2,733 cases of unknown sex, which are under investigation, since this information is not provided automatically.

Since March 2020, 10,782 men and 9,710 women have died from Covid-19.
