The government is concerned over the increasing use of nitrous oxide in young people and the ban will make it illegal to buy, sell or own it. The ban will not cover the use of gas for medicinal purposes or in the food industry. According to TeamAlert, laughing gas has played a role in 1,800 accidents across the Netherlands over the last three years.
