Abi Feijó received the MiratecArts Atlante Award from the cultural organization during a chat on a local radio show, expressing that it was a very pleasant and unexpected surprise. "The Atlante will go beside the one Regina already has; maybe together they can mate," joked the awarded artist. "The cultural dynamic that Terry Costa has been creating on the island is remarkable. I often say that a person needs to dream big, because when you go looking for your dreams, it is easier to find them. So, we must dream big," he added.

Abi Feijó graduated from the Porto Superior School of Fine Arts. He is the founder of O Filmógrafo and A Casa da Animação in Porto. In partnership with Regina Pessoa, he founded and manages the Casa-Museu de Vilar and Ciclopes Filmes. In October 2022, he was awarded the rank of Commander of the Order of Infante D. Henrique by the President of Portugal.

The MiratecArts Atlante Award represents the body of work of an artist that follows their passions, without fear of being different. The Atlante means persistence and audacity in the world of arts and is awarded by Terry Costa, artistic director of MiratecArts, with no specific date or any candidacy on the part of the artists. Past recipients include Oscar winner Christopher Hampton, Azorean musician Luis Alberto Bettencourt, and the most awarded Portuguese artist in cinema, Regina Pessoa, Abi´s partner at Ciclopes Films and in life. All artists receive the award while present at a MiratecArts event in the Azores, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

AnimaPIX happens annually in the autonomous region of Portugal. From illustrated book launches, storytelling and workshops for the child in all of us, the major program focuses on animated cinema with features and short films. The 2022 program included a retrospective of the works of Abi Feijó and Regina Pessoa. www.miratecarts.com
