According to a report by the BBC, Darren Kay, 52 years old, did not return from a run that he had gone on with his wife.

The couple, who were in Madeira on holiday, decided to go on a two-hour run together, however his partner then stayed behind and Darren Kay decided to continue for another 30 minutes but ended up not returning.

"She waited for him and he never came back," Jonny Kay, the brother of the missing man, told the BBC.

The case was immediately reported to the police, with the family believing that searches had already begun on land and at sea, with operations being hampered by weather conditions and rising tides in some of the search areas.

According to CCN Portugal, Darren Kay's parents have already left for Madeira, and Jonny is waiting for a connecting flight to the same location. When he arrives, the brother of the missing man hopes to be able to count on the support of the population to find the British man.

“It's frustrating sitting here all day because it's a waste of a day of searching,” said Jonny.

Darren Kay has been running for nearly 20 years.
