"With rounding to one decimal place, this rate coincides with the value of the quick estimate released on December 30", says INE.

In the last month of 2022, the underlying inflation indicator (IPC excluding unprocessed food and energy products) recorded a year-on-year change of 7.3%, a rate 0.1 percentage points higher than that recorded in November and “the highest since December 1993”.

Last year, the CPI recorded an average annual variation of 7.8%, “significantly above the variation recorded for the year 2021 as a whole (1.3%)” and “the highest annual variation since 1992”, the institute also mentions.

Excluding energy and unprocessed food from the CPI, the average rate of change stood at 5.6% in 2022 (0.8% in the previous year).
