Despite the fact that in 2020, users continue to use the Internet mainly to communicate and access information, it was in the activities related to learning that the greatest increase was registered in.

According to INE data, the proportion of users who communicated with teachers or colleagues through educational portals more than doubled, from 14.5 percent in 2019 to 30.8 percent in 2020, and who attended online courses, 18 percent compared to 7.7 percent last year.

The data result from the survey on the use of information and communication technologies by families, which also points to an increase in the percentage of users of electronic commerce.

This increase, says INE, contradicts the trend of stability in the results of the previous two years.

By income class, families with the highest income have the highest levels of Internet use (96.8 percent).
