The districts of Évora, Faro, Setúbal, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Aveiro, Coimbra and Portalegre will be under yellow alert until 3pm on 25 November.

The Portuguese Sea and Atmosphere Institute (IPMA) has also issued a yellow warning for the districts of Faro, Beja and Setúbal until 12pm on 25 November due to the forecast of strong winds from the southwest travelling northwest with gusts of up to 80 kilometres per hour.

IPMA also issued an orange warning for the northern coast of Madeira and the island of Porto Santo due to the maritime unrest, with north-westerly waves of 5 to 6 metres and a maximum height of 10 to 12 metres expected.

The orange warning will be in force until 12pm the same day, then turn yellow until 6pm on 27 November.

The archipelago is also under yellow warning because of the strong wind with gusts of up to 70/80 kilometres per hour, being 90/100 kilometres per hour in the mountainous regions of Madeira Island.

The orange warning indicates moderate to high risk weather conditions and yellow is issued by IPMA whenever there is a risk for certain weather dependent activities.
