Frontier Follies- Ree Drummond
Many of us know Ree Drummond from her TV show The Pioneer Woman on the Food Network channel. She is a bestselling author (The Pioneer Woman Cooks amongst others) and has a website and blog which is all about her cooking, photography and stories of her country life.
‘Frontier Follies’ is a collection of stories on marriage, motherhood and country life. Drummond talks about what happens in her house and around the cattle ranch in Pawhuska Oklahoma. She comes across as down to earth and relatable. Drummond is honest and shares her family and herself in this book. This book is made up of short essays rather than chapters and they cover stories from the last 25 years. She opens up about a lot in the book including the recent adoption into her family.
If you are only expecting recipes this is not that kind of book. She talks about food and mixes that in with stories of her life.
2020 has been a difficult year so sometimes it’s great to read a book that is filled with joy and feeds the soul. This is the kind of book you can enjoy with a cup of hot chocolate.
Because the storiesare written in a blog format it makes this an easy and quick book to read, with only 256 pages the book could be longer.
The book is laugh out loud funny and charming. Even if you have not watched her shows or read any of her previous books it is still a great read. Overall, I think it would make a great gift for a loved one or yourself.
