This extreme cold temperature has already been validated by official entities, such as the Aragon delegation of the State Meteorological Agency.

The cold is also being felt in Portugal, due to the passage of the Filomena depression. This depression mainly affects the Madeira archipelago and the south of the mainland, and is expected to last until 8 January.

According to the newspaper La Vanguardia, the previous known record was -32ºC that was recorded in 1956.

According to Diário de Notícias, the analysis of this record temperature was made by the platform "Projecte 4 Estcions", a project of amateur meteorologists that operates on the internet, but which nevertheless saw the record validated by official entities such as the Aragon delegation of the State Meteorological Agency.
