The Algarve currently has the highest Covid-19 transmission rate (Rt) in the country. The transmissibility index (Rt) of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in Portugal is 1.22. In terms of geographical distribution, the Algarve is currently the region of the country with the highest index: 1.29. The North is the region with the lowest transmissibility index, with 1.18, followed by Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (1.23), Madeira (1.24), the Central region (1.25), Alentejo and Azores (1.27).
