The Algarve has a total of 29 schools that have remained open to accommodate the children of parents who are key workers. In addition to school support for these children, some school groups continue to provide meals to students and vulnerable families covered by school welfare or social services, who are at home. These include schools in Faro and São Brás, where numbers were reinforced as the municipality foresees an increasing number of families in need of aid given the worsening economic and social context.
