"It is with great sadness that we announce that, for reasons of force majeure, the ninth edition of the Primavera Sound festival will take place between 9 and 12 June 2022", says the festival's organization, in a statement released on 2 March.

The "painful" decision to postpone the 9th edition of the festival again was made "due to the uncertainties surrounding the realization of great shows on the original NOS Primavera Sound dates - June 10th to 12th - which, added to the restrictions that currently exist, make it impossible to work normally in the preparation of the festival or to ensure its celebration".

"Although painful, we know that it is the right decision, especially for all those who have to plan their trip in advance", says the organization, guaranteeing that it maintained "permanent contact with the local authorities and the Directorate-General for Health, to explore possible solutions".

The organization considers, however, that "the ninth edition of the Primavera Sound festival deserves to be celebrated as it used to be, and worldwide restrictions suggest that this will not be possible this summer, at least not in the way the full experience of the festival should be lived”.

Similar to what happened in 2020, "all tickets purchased for the 2020 and 2021 edition are valid for the 2022 edition, and the holder can, of course, request a refund from 1 January 2022", as defined in the law.

The 9th edition poster, which for this year included, among others, Tyler, The Creator, Gorillaz, Tame Impala and Pavement, will be announced "until 5 June".
