The president of the International Commercial Association for Lusophone Markets (ACIML) has said that Portugal could take advantage of the political and diplomatic tension between Beijing and Canberra to export more wine to China. Tensions arose after Australia excluded the Chinese telecommunications group Huawei from the development of its fifth generation (5G) network, for national security reasons and called for an international investigation into the origins of the covid-19 pandemic. Portugal's exports to China decreased by more than a third in the last year, compared to 2019.
