In a statement, the municipality says that, “in order to encourage the use of public transport, through the Public Transport Tariff Reduction Support Program (PART), it foresees, in 2021, a global investment of more than half a million euros in the reimbursement of passes for students in basic and secondary education, public and private education, [and] people with reduced mobility ”.

“It was approved in a chamber meeting the extension of the participation from 50% to 100% of the passes of students of basic and secondary education, residing less than three kilometres from the educational establishment, as long as they are enrolled in the educational establishment in the area of residence, in the academic year 2021/2022 ”, explains the note.

In addition, the council guarantees “the commitment with public transport operators that operate in the municipality to assume the new rules, taking into account the maintenance of the pandemic situation and the need to determine minimum and essential services”.

PART, according to the municipality, was also extended to students of basic and secondary education residing in Guimarães and attending private schools in the municipality, through the co-participation of 100% of the passes, regardless of the distance between the educational establishment and the residence.

“Students residing in the municipality of Guimarães and attending higher education institutions in the municipality, in the next academic year 2021/2022, will also be able to enjoy an additional 100% contribution on the social pass of CIM [Intermunicipal Community of] Ave, with a 50% discount, making a 100% reimbursement of the value of the pass ”, says the municipality.

The statement also states that all people with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 60% can take advantage of the discounts in force for users of the pass on Transurbanos de Guimarães.
