In my many years of producing marketing campaigns this is one of the most unusual, satisfying, and probably most rewarding campaigns I have ever done using a combination of print, online and social media.

Here is a bit of background. We had a brief to come up with a campaign that would help lift people, our readers here in Portugal, during this trying period. As regular readers of The Portugal News know, we pride ourselves as being a service to our community here in Portugal so we were more than happy to take up the challenge.

Like most good marketing campaigns, the objective given to us was very simple so we decided on positive words and strong images that included the image of Portugal.

Research into various positive themes saw The Portugal News team decide to follow the Ancient Seven Colour Ray concept. The Seven Rays is a concept that has appeared in several religions and esoteric philosophies in both Western culture and in India since at least the sixth century BCE. (Source: Wikipedia). The simple reason for this choice is all the Rays seem to represent, in one form or another, positivity – exactly what we were asked to try to achieve in the brief. Plus, we thought they were nice and we hope you agree!

The decision was made to start and end the campaign with a rainbow circle and the positive “Perfect” message to everyone that read it. The rainbow represents fun, joy, optimism, and glory – perhaps sentiments that were slightly lacking going into yet another lockdown.

We have had a number of requests for prints of the campaign and we are pleased to offer these and will do so as cheaply as possible. They will cost €10 each or if you want the set it is €50 for the nine images. A proportion of this money will go to charity. Please contact info@theportugalnews.com for further information.

In addition, we are looking at some other merchandise as we have had requests not only for prints but also t-shirts and other clothing. Like the prints, we will keep the price as affordable as possible so watch this space.

A word on the anonymous donor. It has been requested that the anonymity remains so we respect that wish although it has nothing to do with the Anonymous group that was suggested by one person!

Finally, a special thank you to our graphic designer Mikey Weighill who went over and above the call of duty to produce such excellent graphics.

Wishing you all a happy Easter!
