Helped by a grant from the Portuguese Rotary Foundation, almost €3,000 was raised to buy the equipment.

Refood has seen a big increase in demand for help since the pandemic hit a year ago.

Refood is an independent, citizen driven, 100 percent volunteer, eco-humanitarian community charity, working to eliminate food waste and hunger on a neighbourhood basis. It has centres throughout Portugal with 3 in the Algarve in Faro, Almancil and Algoz/Tunes.

For further information on how the organisation operates, see their website https://www.re-food.org/ For many people who have lost their jobs and income over the last year Refood has been a life saver, literally.
