According to the bulletin, released today, since the beginning of the pandemic Portugal has accounted for 830,560 confirmed cases and 16,942 deaths.

The number of patients in intensive care remains in line with that recorded in recent days, as has the evolution of new cases of infection and deaths.

Regarding the number of patients in wards, it is necessary to go back until 11 September 2020 to have an approximate number (404).

In Portugal, there are 25,344 active cases, a reduction of 23 compared to the previous day, and the lowest number since September 30.

The number of contacts under surveillance by health authorities has increased from 698 to 20,638.

In turn, the number of those who have recovered was 788,274, plus 667.

The transmissibility index (Rt) of the new coronavirus in Portugal fell, on Friday, to 1.05, as well as the incidence of cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, which stands at 71.6.

The previous numbers of these indicators, released on Wednesday, pointed to a national Rt of 1.06 and an incidence of 72.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

By region, the North has a further 258 confirmed cases for 333,542 and the number of deaths remains unchanged at 5,330.

In the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, 198 more infections were reported for 314,568 and three more deaths for 7,183.

The Centre, for its part, totalled 52 more cases of infection to 118,079 and the number of deaths remained unchanged at 3,005.

The Alentejo now has 29,554 confirmed cases, 43 more than on Friday, and the death toll remained at 970.

Today, the Algarve region has notified 21,348 new cases, that is, an increase of 47 compared to the previous day and another death to 356.

In the Autonomous Regions, Madeira has an increase of 18 cases of infection to 8,962, while the number of deaths remains at 68.

In the Azores, the number of cases rose to 4,507, 33 more than the previous day, and one more death, now totalling 30.
