For shows and festivals scheduled for 2020 and postponed to 2022 already after having had a first postponement to 2021, it is predicted that consumers can request a refund of the ticket price, within 14 working days from the scheduled date of the event this year.

The pandemic has meant that many of the shows scheduled for 2020 were successively delayed. The Council of Ministers approved, at the beginning of this month, the Decree-Law that changes the exceptional measures of the pandemic in the cultural and artistic sector.

Thus, consumers who, in view of the first rescheduling, have opted for the issue of a value with validity data until 31 December, 2021, have the right to request a refund after its expiration date, which includes the ticket value and any associated amounts or purchase charges.

By not requesting this refund until the deadline, it is considered that the holder of the ticket or voucher accepts the rescheduling of the event for 2022 - and cannot, afterwards, demand its refund. However, the events must occur until the end of the year 2022 and the values are valid until the same date.

The rules for using the vouchers were kept and can be used to purchase tickets for the same show or others performed by the promoter, and transmitted to others. As for the promoter’s information duties, remember that the promoter must announce the cancellation or new dates of the events and all the shows that he / she performs and that allow the exchange of the voucher and inform the procedure to be adopted for its use and a list of agencies and sales posts and platforms to do it.

The decree-law also provides for the possibility, this year, to be held, in conjunction with the Directorate-General for Health, the pilot test events, for a definition of the technical guidelines to be followed in view of the evolution of Covid-19.
