More than half of the reservoirs above 80 percent of capacity

More than half of the country's reservoirs were at 80 percent capacity or more at the end of April, but four had less than 40 percent of the total volume, according to data released by the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA).

The data on water availability stored in reservoirs on 30 April did not vary significantly from the end of March, with 32 reservoirs at above 80 percent of capacity and the same four at below 40 percent.

The increase in storage levels in the reservoirs of the eastern Algarve (Odeleite and Beliche), although significant, has not yet reached the historic average April levels.
