ANSR released the 24-hour accident report and road inspection report for March, which coincides with the third month of general confinement due to the covid-19 pandemic and restrictions on circulation due to the state of emergency.

“It should be noted the evolution in the month of March, when accidents registered an increase of 3.1 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and in contrast to the significant reductions in previous months. In March 2021, compared to March 2020, there were still increases in serious injuries (+26.5 percent) and minor injuries (+1.6 percent), but even so, the number of deaths remained in reduction (-34.5 percent)”, the document reads.

According to the report, in March there were 1,721 accidents, while in the same month of 2020 there were 1,670, causing 19 deaths (ten fewer than in March last year), 129 major injuries (27 more) and 1,956 no minor injuries (31 more).
