“I regret Germany's decision for a double reason. The first is to have placed the entire country. There are regions that, from the point of view of covid-19, are currently in a worrying situation, but others are not”, said Augusto Santos Silva, in statements to Lusa News Agency.
On the other hand, the minister recalled that the covid-19 digital certificate will take effect at the EU level as of 1 July. “The logic of the covid-19 certificate is that we can take restrictive measures to control the pandemic and let travel those who are vaccinated or immunized,” he pointed out.
However, Augusto Santos Silva said that the decision “is not surprising”, taking into account that Germany has taken an “extremely careful position”.
Health authorities in Germany have placed Portugal on the 'red list', a decision that will take effect from Tuesday and that will force all travelers from Portugal to a 14-day quarantine.
The United Kingdom, where the Delta variant of the covid-19 virus is already endemic, has already been declared a virus-variant zone, meaning travelers arriving from the UK face a mandatory two-week quarantine.
Be careful not to upset your German masters, Portugal.

Ursula von der Leyen : “Thank you, António, for an incredibly successful presidency”
António Costa : "Do I get some candies for a job well done ?"
Ursula von der Leyen : "Nah, just get down on your knees"
António Costa : " Yes, Master !"
Ursula von der Leyen : "Well Done, here's your RED LISTING"
António Costa : " Thank You , Ma'am I think Marcelo will be well proud of me !"
Ursula von der Leyen : "I think so too ! , now lets get to work on having the CCP buy out your waterworks just like they have with your electricity grid."

Extremely careful vs extremely careless! That's the difference between the two countries!

In Portugal and most countries many more people are have been killed this year by cigarette smoking than by C19 and we see no fuss at all!

Another wrist slap for the PM from Frau Merkel. No doubt The Portugal News will be starting a petition to get Portugal off the German red list.

I wish Portugal had done the same. To avoid the situation we have now. But some weeks of tourism profit was more valuable than our health and way of living without resrictions.

Purely political theater now. Is it hailing time in Germany yet again?

“The logic of the covid-19 certificate is that we can take restrictive measures to control the pandemic and let travel those who are vaccinated or immunized,” he pointed out."
A week earlier, the Portuguese Prime Minister said to its own people, "we cannot control the pandemic". It's interesting how different the perspectives of different authorities are. There are no clear guidelines anywhere in Portugal. For nothing!
“I regret Germany's decision for a double reason. The first is to have placed the entire country. There are regions that, from the point of view of covid-19, are currently in a worrying situation, but others are not”, said Augusto Santos Silva, in statements to Lusa News Agency."
This argument is also insufficient. People travel within Portugal, between the individual municipalities and regions. Despite travel ban on the weekend. The GNR supposedly controls strictly and closely. Ridiculous. Friends took the bus from Lisbon to Faro this morning. Controls of the GNR: zero!
It is a shame how Portuguese business associations and the Portuguese government act and then also assign blame to other governments (UK, Germany, etc.).
Portugal is harming itself; in all areas.

How can it be that a vaccinated German traveller needs to be quarantined on return to Germany, a country which population is largely vaccinated. Maybe I'm missing the punch line here.

I love how some people commented how the UK is now full of the delta varient.
I hope you don't think Portugal's delta problems come from the UK?
All the people coming to Portugal have had tests before they fly.

Maybe this is a good example for why Portugal needs to build back with other industries instead of relying on tourism.

The Delta-Indian variant is the vaccination campaign variant of India, it seems they are both created by and spread by the vaccinated. No reason to think controls do any effect.
By Kari Lehto from Other on 27 Jun 2021, 10:16
People need to have informed consent before being vaccinated with a novel vaccination with zero long term safety data and worrying short term safety data ,along with many unknowns.
“Why are German authorities ignoring the Covid Digital Certificate?”
The reason appears both simple and terrifying at the same time:
“People over the age of 50 who have been fully vaccinated are three times more likely to die from the Delta variant than those who haven’t received any vaccines” (this is a headline taken from Swiss online ‘uncut news’ yesterday).
It is not that the Delta variant is more ‘aggressive’ as a strain. It is that exactly the fears highlighted by doctors earlier this year (click here) and reported in various media outlets, including our own (click here) appear to be showing themselves substantiated.
The jabs can precipitate a ‘rare’ but deadly condition known as ADE (antibody dependent enhancement) which basically means that someone who might have naturally developed only a mild illness as a result of contracting Covid-19 could experience severe disease, lasting morbidity and even death as a result of having been vaccinated.
ADE, the fact that myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) after vaccination in adolescents is 200 times more frequent than expected and other very concerning ‘anomalies’ have been flagged a bit throughout the developed world since the beginning of the mass-vaccination drive.
Voices speaking against them have been drowned-out (if not vilified) by authorities’ insistence that the benefits of the vaccines outweigh the risks.

Germany have out scourced their descision making to the Koch institute. Who, quite frankly, are making it up as they go along. Tests, vaccines are all pointless. Where's the evidence thatany version of SARS has a 14 day incubation period. There's an Agenda, not a 'deadly virus'.

Its all bull**** theater and Portuguese authorities need to speak up, there is absolutely nothing going on here! I've been here 2 weeks, traveled from the UK, Been to Lisbon, Albufeira and now in central Portugal in Castelo Branco, it's calm and I haven't seen people dropping dead, ambulances or any panic at all. There is nothing happening folks. I'm here and I can see first hand. It's all politically motivated bullshit!

And Covid has a lower fatality rate than a heavy flue season. Treated as an ebola
yeah, I really am seeing all my friends dying around me. What a sad sad story all these bureaucrats being able to kill economies (and people that will not get their cancer treatment on time, small detail ) like that. I have cancelled at leas 5k euro trips to the Netherlands, parties in Portugal and simple visits to friends in other countries as I am not going to do Pcr tests to go anywhere. What a sad story for humanity, I really thought we were a bit more advanced but emotions are indeed very easy to sell and play out . World Health Organisation = We are Ashamed Of Ourselves as we Still Have Covid on highest Class virus. What a f...n joke these people are (and killers in the process). Trump was right to withdraw from the WHO, he (or his part) just communicated in a shitty way..
