“As expected, there was an increase in bookings in the UK just hours after the British government confirmed that from 19 July fully vaccinated travellers will no longer need to be quarantined when they return from destinations on the amber list”, said a statement from easyJet.

According to the company flight bookings to Amber List destinations for this summer have increased 400 percent and holiday bookings by more than 440 percent week-to-week in the hours since the announcement.

Portugal, Spain, and Greece are proving to be among the most popular amber list countries for flights this summer, with Faro, Alicante, Malaga, Nice and Corfu current favourites for booking amber list flights.

José Lopes, General Director of easyJet for Portugal, said: “We are very pleased with the customer response to removing the quarantine from the amber list for the fully vaccinated, so Europe has now gone Green. We've always said that vaccination is the key to unlocking travel and that means millions will finally be able to reunite with family and loved ones abroad or take that long-awaited trip this summer.

“easyJet is ready and can go fast – we fly to 85 green and amber destinations across Europe and can operate up to 5 million places between the UK and the countries on these lists. We urge the government to remove costly tests for fully vaccinated people traveling to low-risk green and amber destinations, as we don't want to see a return to flight as a privilege for the more affluent. We look forward to doing our part and getting our customers flying again this summer.”
