In a statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), NOS said that “the consolidated net profit stood at €73.9 million, compared to €35 million recorded in the first six months of last year”.

In the period under review, consolidated revenues rose 1.8 percent to €678.5 million.

“In the first half of this year, telecoms revenues, despite the effects of the pandemic on roaming revenues, grew by 3 percent year-on-year to €672.4 million,” NOS said.

Earnings before tax, interest, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) amounted to €306.6 million, down 1.3 percent on the same period of 2020 (€310.6 million).

“Revenue growth and the conditioned reopening of cinemas was not enough to offset the increase in direct costs,” NOS adds.

In the first half of 2021, “NOS reinforced its investments, particularly in the communications area” and the group’s total ‘capex’, excluding leasing contracts, increased 16.5 percent and reached €200.1 million.
