The total number of murders (six) was the same as in the first quarter of this year, a period in which four women and two men died.

This year's data changes from what occurred in the second quarter of 2020, when there were five murders, the victims of which were three women, a child and a man.

On the other hand, the 6,661 participations to PSP and GNR for domestic violence in the second quarter of this year surpass the 5,517 participations recorded in the first quarter of this year, according to government data.

The 6,661 incidents reported to PSP and GNR in the second quarter of this year are however below the numbers recorded in the same period of 2020, which was 6,959, with a variation of less than 5 percent between 2021 and 2020.

Crimes of domestic violence in the second quarter of this year were subject to the provisional suspension of the case to 1,753 defendants, while in the same period of 2020 it was 1,705, so that the annual variation from 2020 to 2021 registered an increase of 2.8 percent in the application of this measure, which is carried out with the monitoring of the General Directorate of Reinsertion and Prison Services (DGRSP) and which prevents the defendants from having to be imprisoned.

At the same time, at the end of the second quarter of this year, the total number of prisoners arrested for domestic violence was 1,112 against 1,064 in the same period of 2020, an increase of 4.5 percent.

Of the 1,112 inmates for domestic violence in the second quarter of this year, 233 are in preventive detention, while 892 were already convicted to prison.

Regarding the program for aggressors in domestic violence, there are 1,962 people integrated in these programs in the second quarter of this year, against 1,596 in a similar period of 2020, which represents an increase of 22.9 percent.

At the same time, in the second quarter of this year, 3,892 people were covered by "teleassistance" in the scope of the crime of domestic violence.

As for people taken in by the National Support Network for Victims of Domestic Violence (RNVVD), in the second quarter of this year this number was 1,098, with 718 women and 364 children. In the first quarter, the number was 1,066 people, 676 women and 370 children.
