According to the weekly DGS report on vaccination that started on December 27, 2020, 73% of the Portuguese population have already completed their vaccination process and 83% have already been inoculated with the first dose.

By age group, the greatest growth in relation to the previous week was registered in young people between 12 and 17 years old, who are now vaccinated with at least one dose 461,578 (74%), a percentage that drops to 7% in relation to a complete vaccination.

Regarding the group between 18 and 24 years old, 643,324 (82%) have also started their vaccination and 393,499 (50%) have already completed it, the report indicates.

According to data from the DGS, almost all elderly people aged 65 and over – 99%, more than 2.3 million – have been fully vaccinated, as well as 96% of the people between 50 and 64 years old (2,079,384).

Regarding vaccination coverage, all regions of the country, with the exception of the Algarve, which has 67%, exceeded 70% of complete vaccination, and in the North where more people are vaccinated (75%).

The Centre and Madeira register 74% of complete vaccinations, followed by the Alentejo (73%) and Lisbon and Vale do Tejo and the Azores (72%).

Since the start of vaccination, the country has received a total of 17,488,090 vaccines against Covid-19, with 15,136,630 doses being distributed by vaccination centres in mainland Portugal and the autonomous regions.
