The first concert, will be at Teatro das Figuras in Faro, from young Israeli concert pianist, Ido Zeev, with a performance of the renowned Tchaikovsky 1st Piano concerto, accompanied by their fantastic orchestra. Additionally, the concert will include the most popular film scores from composers John Williams and Ennio Morricone. The second unmissable concert, will be held at the Grand Auditorium of the Palacio dos Congressos of Herdade dos Salgados in Albufeira. This concert presents internationally acclaimed accordion player from the Algarve, Gonçalo Pescada. The remainder of the concert will also feature the same film scores as the first concert.

The new orchestra aims not only to boost the cultural calendar of our region but also to provide a professional platform for young professional musicians from the region of the Algarve, with the potential to perform within the orchestra and as soloists.

It has also been a heavily anticipated ambition for the Algarve to increase its cultural access and improve employment opportunities in its cultural sector, therefore the association is pleased to have the support of this new project, from Portimão city hall, and the support from other councils like Albufeira and Faro. “As other famous orchestras such as the Berliner Filarmonic do not solely consist of German musicians, the Orquestra Sinfónica do Algarve will not solely comprise of members from the local area. Nevertheless, the goal is to include the finest musicians from the region and those who achieve the extraordinary standards necessary to perform in a professional orchestra.”
