SEF says in a statement that the inspection and investigation operation took place in establishments located in Coimbra, Figueira da Foz, São João da Madeira, Leiria and Viseu.

During the operation, five foreign citizens in an irregular situation were detected in the country, notified for voluntary abandonment, and three with fictitious employment relationships, the statement said.

The operation, called “AEDOS”, involved 65 SEF inspectors and was aimed at verifying the conditions of entry, stay and departure of foreign nationals from the national territory.

According to SEF, this inspection and investigation activity allows to signal occurrences subject to document regularization and, on the other hand, to identify, prevent and combat the most diverse forms of exploitation of immigrants in a situation of socioeconomic and documental fragility, with particular emphasis on labour and sexual exploitation.
