Between 3 and 7 November 2021, the ballooning event “Voar na Beira Baixa” will be held, organised by the Intermunicipal Community of Beira Baixa, with technical direction from Windpassenger and support from Cepsa Gás and RR.

Guido dos Santos, founder of Windpassenger, pilot and technical director of the festival says that “Beira Baixa is a true open-air museum. Being able to fly over in a balloon and discover this region in the heart of the Iberian Peninsula, a territory full of history, natural beauty and rural charm is simply magical. Our passengers will enjoy an experience they will certainly not forget”.

For five days, weather permitting, hot air balloon flights will take place in the municipalities of Oleiros, Proença-a-Nova, Penamacor, Idanha-a-Nova, Castelo Branco and Vila Velha de Ródão. On the 6th, there will be the urban ballooning walk and the urban hot air balloon show and, on the last day, two mountain bike tours, with 28.5 km and 56.4 km.

With several take-offs at the same time, the event has around 15 teams of pilots from all over the world, which include the balloon “Beira Baixa”, the “Mota” (largest special shaped balloon in the world) and a flying pirate ship from 1700.
