“Due to the Metro strike, we are going to reinforce the following routes: 726 on the Pontinha Metro – Estefânia section; 736 on the Senhor Roubado – Marquês de Pombal and Campo Grande – Cais do Sodré sections; 744 on the Oriente – Restauradores section; and 746 on the Sete Rios – Marquês de Pombal section”, informed Carris.
Given that, on Tuesday, November 2nd, the strike is partial, "the reinforcement will only cover the rush hour in the morning, until around 10:30 am, at which time the Metro will already be operating normally", added Carris.
On Thursday, the day on which the Metro workers' strike lasts 24 hours, "reinforcements will be made throughout the day, with greater intensity at peak hours, in the morning and in the afternoon, and with less intensity during the day and the evening”, said the company managed by the Municipality of Lisbon.
In the two Metro strikes that took place this week, on Tuesday and Thursday, both partial during the morning rush hour, Carris also reinforced mobility across the most critical areas of the city.
Asked about the reinforcement of the transport offer to respond to the increase in demand due to the Web Summit technology summit, held in Lisbon, between Monday and Thursday, coinciding with the strike days at the Metropolitano, as well as the strike 24 hours at the Rodoviária de Lisboa, which takes place on Tuesday, Carris said that it will provide “a special route between Gare do Oriente and Praça do Comércio” and there will be reinforcements in the routes that serve the area where the event takes place, as disclosed on the 'site', at https://www.carris.pt/descubra/noticias/web-summit-2021/.
The unions called for a partial strike in the Lisbon Metro for "the majority of workers" for the period between 05:00 and 09:30 and for administrative and senior technicians for between 09:30 and 13:30.
"The Metropolitano de Lisboa is receptive to the discussion of the proposals presented by the union entities, which are the object of negotiation", indicated the company in a note.
