“The club can announce today that Nuno Espírito Santo and the rest of the technical team have been released from their duties”, reads a note published on the official Spurs website.

Espírito Santo, 47, leaves Tottenham in eighth place in the 'Premier League', with 15 points, a result of five victories and five defeats. The London team was defeated at home by Manchester United, on Saturday, by 3-0, with Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the first goal.

Fabio Paratici, Managing Director, Football, said: "I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed and I regret that we have had to take this decision. Nuno is a true gentleman and will always be welcome here. We should like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future.”

A further coaching update will follow in due course.
