In a statement, the GNR explains that the campaign, which runs until Sunday (7th), will give particular attention to the Algarve region and the Algarve International Autodrome, where the Moto GP Portugal Event will take place, and will alert drivers to the rules and safety precautions that must be taken into account while driving.
A video illustrating some of the most frequent dangerous manoeuvers will also be released on digital platforms.
From the analysis of road accidents for the year 2021 until September 30, it appears that about 10% of accidents involved two-wheel motor vehicles.
According to the GNR, of the victims registered this year on the roads, “28.9% are drivers or passengers of two-wheeled vehicles and, of the fatal victims, about 32% also correspond to drivers/passengers of two-wheeled vehicles".

I think the GNR would be better employed policing the atrocious driving of passenger cars. Reckless overtaking , tailgating an$ excessive speed. Riding my motorcycle last week, a fool in a sedan overtook another vehicle forcing me, on the opposing traffic flow, off the road and on to the hard shoulder. Total disrespect for the law and the safety of another road user.

When I have zebra crosses to pass the motorcycle riders tend to be much more attentive and abiding than the car drivers…Maybe bc moto drivers aren´t so well treated by car drivers…(I don´t drive motorbike or car; no bias).

Motorbikes should be banned outright.They serve no purpose except to irritate and are a serious danger to live.
As for all those ridiculous old men that ride them,trying to recapture their youth,move on with your lives.

Thank you James for your impartial observation, many of us "old men" have been riding and enjoying motorcycling our whole lives, the fact that the emergency services use and rely on motorcycles for fast response transit of life giving organs, plasma, blood etc. May have escaped your narrow minded word.. there is a view that if all driver had spent some time on a motorcycle they would actually be better more aware drivers... don't be so quick to dismiss something that enables many to commute at a much lower expense and environmental impact..

Been riding even before I had a car licence and 32 years gone past, lucky I have a choice to choose between riding or driving, riding it's not a middle life crisis, it's a way of life and in Australia where I live it's considered a very important therapy for mental health well-being, I agree with the previous comment that every driver should try a bit of freedom and not driving under the Facebook influence, it's getting seriously dangerous, fortunately we've got new radar cams to get these criminals of the toad.

Hey Shaun. Please don't take these trolls seriously. No one in his right mind, with enough sense and money to live in Portugal would ever write such a ridiculous comment as the one you you responded to. Thank God for motorcycles and the many people who ride them. There are many inferior roads here and the culture for motor vehicles both 4 and 2 wheeled is very different than in most developed countries. But we're the guests, so we're the ones who should be adapting.

And what is your hobby? I’m guessing it’s something safe, boring and possibly you are generally irritating from the time you get out of bed until you (safely) get back in it. Some of us know how to live, and stay living.
