On his Instagram account, the Portuguese KTM driver wrote to thank for “all the support” he received over the weekend, which ended after being rammed by his team mate during the 17th and penultimate race of the World Speed Championship in motorcycling.

“Thank you to all the Portuguese for the unique support I felt this weekend. The outcome was not what we wanted, but it remains in my memory [the presence of] all the flags and all the applause. I went to the hospital and apparently I'm fine. Over the next few days, we will be attentive to any more symptoms that may arise”, wrote Miguel Oliveira, who left the track on a stretcher before being transported to the hospital.

The Portuguese driver's usual press conference after the end of the race was cancelled by KTM, whose press office assured that Miguel Oliveira was “well”.

Miguel Oliveira suffered a fall after a knock by Spaniard Iker Lecuona during the 23rd of 25 laps of the race held at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (AIA), in Portimão.

Miguel Oliveira has now dropped from 10th to 13th place, with 92 points, with only the Valencia GP, next Sunday, left to race.
