The 12 percent increase observed in works licensed by the councils in residential buildings was “strongly influenced” by the growth in the level of licensed dwellings in new constructions, according to the AICCOPN - Association of Industrialists of Civil Construction and Public Works in a statement.

The latter registered an increase of 15.3 percent up to September, since with regard to the licensing of renovation works, there was a year-on-year increase of only 1.2 percent.

As for new credit for home purchases granted by financial institutions until September, this amounted to €11,157 million, up 37.8 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year.

In September, the median value of the valuation of housing for the purposes of bank credit increased by 9.6 percent year-on-year, due to an increase of 11 percent in apartments and 4.7 percent in housing.

In terms of regions, AECCOPS highlights that in the Alentejo, the number of licensed dwellings in new constructions, in the 12 months concluded in September of this year, was 1,044, which translated into a 9.1 percent growth compared to 957 licensed dwellings in the previous twelve months. Of these, 5.3 percent were a T0 or T1, 15.2 percent are T2, 52.8 percent are T3 and 26.7 percent are T4 or higher.

In September, in relation to the bank assessment value on housing in this region, there was a year-on-year increase of 4.6 percent.
