Next year brings the return of Cirque du Soleil with a spectacular and revolutionary ice experience that they are calling CRYSTAL. The show starts on 22 December 2022 and will be running until 1 January 2023, at the Altice Arena in Lisbon.

The premise of this show is centered around the story of “a young creative woman called Crystal who feels misunderstood and out of sync with herself.” It is an exciting tale of “self-discovery, where she will immerse herself in a universe created by her own imagination after venturing onto a frozen lake and falling through the ice.

“She invites the audience to step out of reality and join her in a world that will come to life with incredible visual projections and a powerful original soundtrack.

“Crystal finds a reflection of herself that guides her through this new world and awakens her to her own creativity. As Crystal continues her journey, she transforms her quirks into creativity with a simple movement of her pen. With this new power, Crystal is able to find her true self and return to the real world.”

This is another of Cirque du Soleil's unique productions where you can find the world's best skaters and acrobats in the new frozen playground where, quickly and fluidly, they challenge the laws of gravity with acrobatics never seen before.

Mike Newquist, Senior Vice President of the Tourism Shows Division adds: "We are absolutely thrilled to finally bring CRYSTAL back on the road. For two years our artists have been waiting for the opportunity to go back to skating and be with the public again. It will be an emotional and magical return."

CRYSTAL is Cirque du Soleil's 42nd creation and explores the artistic possibilities of ice for the first time. This unique production pushes the boundaries of performance by combining stunning skating and acrobatic maneuvers that defy imagination. It has an international cast composed of figure skating, freestyle and high-competition ice athletes, acrobats, musicians and a cartoon character with eleven different nationalities are represented in the cast.
