To cope with the greater influx of users receiving booster doses of the vaccine against Covid-19, 10 vaccination centres were relocated in the region, two of which – in Faro and Portimão – in new locations, according to the Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of the Algarve.

“The municipalities of Albufeira, Faro, Lagoa, Lagos, Loulé, Olhão, Portimão, Tavira, Silves and Vila Real Santo António have strengthened their capacity to vaccinate in the region, since, through their municipal Civil Protection services, they have installed and sustained logistically, the mass vaccination operation in 10 community centres”, the note reads.

In Faro, the municipal centre for the administration of vaccines against Covid-19 has been operating since the beginning of December in the Forum Algarve shopping centre and, in Portimão, a new centre has opened in the Fairs and Exhibitions Park.

In the remaining six municipalities - Aljezur, Alcoutim, Castro Marim, Monchique, S. Brás Alportel and Vila do Bispo - vaccination is maintained in health centres, with the support of local authorities, which allocate resources according to specific needs in each location.
