“This distinction honours us. We will continue to relentlessly position safety as a top priority”, said TAP CEO Christine Ourmières-Widener.

The Airline Ratings website is dedicated to evaluating airlines around the world, taking into account criteria such as accidents over the past five years, serious incidents over the past two years, audits by government agencies and the aviation industry, government audits, initiatives of safety, fleet age and safety protocols regarding Covid-19. The list has been published since 2014 and TAP debuted on the list in 2020.

According to Airline Ratings editor-in-chief Geoffrey Thomas: “TAP Air Portugal has an excellent safety record and this is not surprising as it has kept its fleet young and has always looked for the best aircraft and was one of the first to adopt large advances in security. Its record of incidents over the past two years has been one of the best and the airline has not suffered a fatality in the modern era. TAP Portugal has become a reference in air safety and its Covid-19 protocols are industry leaders”, he concludes.
