According to the Financial Times, after having violated quarantine rules in Switzerland and the United Kingdom on two occasions, António Horta Osório ended up resigning as chairman of the Swiss bank, about nine months after taking office. The Portuguese banker will not be subject to contractual breach clauses and is free to go and perform other functions in any company whenever he wishes.

When António Horta Osório took over as chairman of Credit Suisse, it was agreed that he would earn three million Swiss francs a year (close to €2.9 million), plus a premium of 1.5 million Swiss francs (€1. 44 million) in shares of the bank over four years.

The €3.66 million he received represents three quarters of what he would be entitled to annually. Horta Osório received around €406,000 per month.
