The Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI) said that "the number of voters who registered to vote in mobility, up to 19:00 this Thursday, is 285,508".

The ministry said that between Sunday and Wednesday, 247,047 citizens had registered to vote.

Voters registered on national territory could register until 23:59 on 20 January to vote early on Sunday, one week before the legislative elections on 30 January.

In this mode, voters register at a polling station of their choice in a municipality on the mainland or in the autonomous regions of the Azores and Madeira, through electronic means at www.votoantecipado.mai.gov.pt or by mail sent to the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Administration.

On Wednesday, 19 January, the Assistant Secretary of State for Internal Administration considered that the number of voters registered to vote in advance for mobility on 23 January is "well below the estimates of the electoral administration”.

Antero Luís said that logistics have been designed so that about one million Portuguese could vote in advance for the legislative elections.

In the previous legislative elections in 2019, more than 50,000 voters voted in advance, a week before the elections, while in the presidential elections of 2021, already during the Covid-19 pandemic, 197,903 Portuguese exercised their right a week before the date of the electoral act.
