The number of active cases increased again, with 592,365 now, 6,215 more than on Monday, and in the last 24 hours, 44,610 people were reported to have recovered, for a total of 2,033,747.

In the last 24 hours, a further 6,130 contacts were placed under surveillance, which now totals 639,307.

Since March 2020, 2,690,690 people have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Portugal and 19,968 deaths associated with Covid-19 have been declared.

Of the deaths with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, 19 occurred in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, 17 in the North, 16 in the Centre region, four in the Algarve, four in the Autonomous Region of Madeira and four in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

By age, one of the people with Covid-19 who died was between 50 and 59 years old, four people were between 60 and 69 years old, 14 were between 70 and 79 years old and 44 were 80 years old or older.

Most of the new contagions were diagnosed in the North, with 19,872 infections, now totalling 1,038,808 cases since the beginning of the pandemic and 6,075 deaths associated with covid-19.

In the Lisbon region there are 14,243 more infections, totalling 980,939 contagions and 8,398 deaths associated with Covid-19 since March 2020, while the Centre region registers 10,625 new cases (378,977 in total and 3,511 deaths).

In the Alentejo, a further 1,887 people were infected in the last 24 hours (total of 89,232 infections and 1,127 deaths with covid-19) and in the Algarve another 1,748 (total of 103,143 cases and 637 deaths).

In the autonomous region of the Azores, 1,542 infections were diagnosed in the last 24 hours, for a total of 34,625 cases since the beginning of the pandemic and 60 deaths attributed to Covid-19, while in Madeira there were 981 new infections, a total of 64,966 and 160 deaths with Covid-19.

By age, 9,319 of the infections in the last 24 hours were in people between 40 and 49 years old, 8,653 in the age group of 10 to 19, 8,618 between 30 and 39 years old, 7,409 in children up to nine years old, 6,275 between 20 and 29 years old, 4,633 between 50 and 59 years old, 2,881 between 60 and 69 years old, 1,833 between 70 and 79 years old and 1,267 in people aged 80 and over.

SARS-CoV-2 has already infected at least 1,259,811 men and 1,428,397 women in Portugal, with 2,482 cases of unknown sex still under investigation, as these data are not provided automatically.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, and associated with Covid-19, 10,505 men and 9,463 women have died.
