The initiative will be distributed by two moments, the first being on Saturday, in which the plantation of 700 trees and bushes is foreseen, leaving the rest to be planted by school students, added Raquel Viterbo, responsible for the entity that brings together the municipalities of Paredes, Valongo and Gondomar in the management of that common green space.

Oaks, cork oaks, arbutus trees, birch and ash trees are among the "many diversity of trees" that will be planted in a space where "before it was made the control of acacias", work that was financed by the Operational Programme Sustainability and Efficiency in the Use of Resources (POSEUR), "clearing a ground that was practically impenetrable", she added.

The initiative aims to give "continuity to the ecological reconversion of this interesting area, near the Sousa River", notes the Facebook post on the Parque das Serras do Porto.

The trees and bushes will come from the project to expand the native forest in the Metropolitan Area of Porto called "Futuro - 100 thousand trees in the AMP", as well as from the Common Forest Project, of the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests, she added.

According to Raquel Viterbo, there will be 65 volunteers participating in the planting scheduled for Saturday.
