According to the daily epidemiological bulletin, 2,366 people are hospitalised today, 69 less than on Wednesday, while in intensive care units there are five more patients, for a total of 168, with not all hospitalisations due to Covid-19.

The number of active cases rose again today, with 616,785 now, 10,078 more than on Wednesday, and in the last 24 hours, 17,526 people were reported to have recovered, bringing the total to 2,388,235.

Of the 47 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 18 occurred in the North, 15 in the Centre, nine in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, two in the Azores, one in the Alentejo, one in the Algarve and one in Madeira.

By age groups, most of the fatalities with Covid-19 were over 80 years old (33), with eight deaths between 70 and 79 years old, four between 60 and 69 years old, one between 50 and 59 years old and one between 40 and 49 years old.

The North continues to be the region of the country with the most new daily cases, with 9,120 more infections, followed by Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, with 8,520 more, the Centre (5,516), the Alentejo (1,569), the Algarve (1,452) , the Azores (901) and Madeira (573).

In the last 24 hours, the number of contacts under surveillance recorded a reduction of 7,580 people, now totaling 638,788.

According to the DGS, since March 2020, 3,025,421 cases of infection with SARS-CoV-2 have been registered in Portugal and 20,401 deaths associated with covid-19 have been declared.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region has recorded 1,078,220 cases and 8,536 deaths.

In the North region, there were 1,165,803 infections and 6,208 deaths and the Central region now has an accumulated total of 443,820 infections and 3,609 deaths.

The Algarve has a total of 118,863 infections and 658 deaths and the Alentejo has 103,751 cases and 1,142 deaths from Covid-19.

The Autonomous Region of Madeira has had 69,726 infections and 174 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic and the Azores archipelago 45,238 cases and 74 deaths.

The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information disclosed in the DGS bulletin.

According to DGS, 1,412,849 cases of infection were recorded in men and 1,609,859 in women, with 2,713 cases of unknown sex, which are under investigation, since this information is not provided automatically.

Since March 2020, 10,729 men and 9,672 women have died from Covid-19.
