According to the daily epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), 1,358 people are hospitalised today, 120 less than on Monday, while in intensive care units there are 96 patients, less six, although not all hospitalisations are due to Covid-19.

The number of active cases rose today to 465,412, 9,231 more than on Monday, and in the last 24 hours 1,752 people were reported to have recovered, for a total of 2,787,126 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Of the 23 deaths, 10 took place in the North region, six in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, six in the Center and one in the Alentejo.

Most of the new infections were diagnosed in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, with 3,817 infections, followed by the Center, with 2,947 more, the North (1,979), the Alentejo (772), the Algarve (634), the Madeira (504) and the Azores (353).

Since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region has recorded 1,158,853 cases and 8,739 deaths.

In the North region, there were 1,231,373 infections and 6,457 deaths and the Central region now has a total of 493,963 infections and 3,743 deaths.

The Algarve has a total of 134,688 infections and 690 deaths and Alentejo has 118,000 cases and 1,179 deaths from Covid-19.

The Autonomous Region of Madeira has had 78,928 infections and 188 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic and the Azores archipelago 57,819 cases and 90 deaths.

The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information disclosed in the DGS bulletin.

According to DGS, 1,523,323 cases of infection were recorded in men and 1,747,390 in women, with 2,911 cases of unknown sex, which are under investigation, since this information is not provided automatically.

Since March 2020, 11,091 men and 9,995 women have died from Covid-19.
