According to data from the Iberian Market Operator (OMIE), cited by the EFE news agency, a week after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the price of electricity will for the first time exceed the 300 euros/MWh barrier this year and reach its third highest value in history.

The average price for Thursday will be almost 11% cheaper than that of December 23 last year, when electricity reached an all-time high of 383.67 euros/MWh.

By time slots, electricity will cost 400 euros/MWh between 07:00 and 08:00 in Lisbon (plus one hour in Spain), while its cheapest price will be recorded between 22:00 and 23:00 ( 260 euros/MWh).

Thursday's price will be 74.36% more expensive than a week earlier and will be six times that recorded during the first Thursday of March 2021, when its price was 55.27 euros/MWh.
