I would certainly point out that the financial contribution from the UK will eventually be very severely missed and will need to be made up by increased contributions by the remaing members, or the overall eu budget considerably reduced, a very unlikely happening.
As regards the schengen agreement then it is a well known fact that because of the 90 day rule travel to the EU by UK citizens is an active discourage to consider extended stays and The Algarve will be one of the places most affected.
Mr T has also very conveniently forgotten to mention the rapid introduction of UK covid vaccination in early 2021 that left the EU bureaucracy in utter chaos and directly caused many additional deaths and cases of very serious illness amongst its citizens.
In conclusion I would like to say that as a visitor to Portugal I would not attempt to run down the country’s president so perhaps Mr T could treat the UK prime minister with a modicum or respect and appreciate some of the things he has achieved including taking the finals steps in removing the UK from EU power house.

So the UK chose not be part of the EU....but it's unfair on UK citizens to have to follow the rules of the EU? British exceptionalism at its finest.
The 90/180 day rule applies to all third country nationals. Britain chose to become a third country so those without residency etc. in Portugal have to follow those rules. It's irrelevant how much money is spent by Brits in the Algarve - Britain chose to get rid of their rights to free movement so it's very much a case of like it or lump it.
Democracy in action old bean.
