I had the pleasure of attending the World Trailer Awards (WTA) ceremony which “honours the outstanding achievements of the world’s best creatives, marketing the world’s best entertainment across Cinema, T.V (Broadcast/Cable), Gaming, Podcast & Radio, Streaming Services and Social Media.”

“The Regional Winners were selected by a high-profile international jury that consisted of directors, producers, actors, writers, executives and advertising creatives.” The ceremony was streamed via their media partner DEADLINE and further sho cased the Algarve as a fantastic location for the industry. Additionally, the ceremony was presented by wonderful Portuguese actor Sónia Balacó where it was fantastic to see Winners receive top prizes in the form of innovative NFT art pieces.

“Peter Ogunsalu of Spy Manor Productions had been in discussions with Evelyn Brady-Watters, Cofounder of the 21-year-old GTA's Golden Trailer Awards, to launch the World Trailer Awards for some time and they managed to bring the first ever WTA to the Algarve.” Evelyn Brady-Watters, Co-founder of the GTA's Golden Trailer Awards, stated, "We are grateful for the opportunity to showcase their outstanding work and announce the overall winners in the beautiful and culturally rich Vilamoura."

Vanda Everke, CEO of Spy Manor Productions, who has been working hard to bring this event to the Algarve, said "It has indeed been a tremendous honour to bring the WTA to the Algarve! As with everything we do, our primary goal is to put the Algarve on the map as a versatile, accessible and welcoming filming location. We are passionate about this region and contributing to turning it into one of the most spectacular lifestyle destinations.”

Executive Director of the World Trailer Awards, Dean Wheeler, said, "We're delighted to create the awards environment for the world's amazing and often unacknowledged talent that creates entertainment marketing.”

Winners of the Streaming Services category were presented by Kelly Warnell of Hurst Entertainment which included Best Online Advertising, Best Trailer, Best Outdoor Advertising, Best Poster and Best Experiential Marketing. Some key winners were Kelly Adelman, picking up Best Streaming Trailer for Halston on Netflix. Best Experiential Marketing went to Heather McClure for The Tomorrow War (Prime Video) and Best Outdoor Advertising went to Danièle Morkel, Andrew Lerma and Kristine Yan for Ozark Season 4 (Netflix). Additionally, Best Poster went to Danièle Morkel for Cocaine Cowboys (Netflix).

Winners of the T.V category was announced by Karen Nunn of Stratagem and included George Smith for Best Poster with Look Away (Ignition Creative London) as well as Mikko Toivonen for Best Print Advertising with Europe From Above (The Walt Disney Company Nordic & Baltic). Additionally, the Cinema Category was presented by Micaela Romanini from Vigamus and saw Walter Bienz’s River (The Solid State) win Best Trailer as well as Joe Argent for Best Online Advertising for Last Night In Soho (Zealot U.K.).
