In a statement the municipality of the district of Viana do Castelo said that the activity of the new private hospital “will be focused on the nuclear medicine unit, fundamental for the diagnosis and detection of oncological diseases”.

The future hospital unit will avoid “regular travel by the population of Alto Minho to Porto, Coimbra and Lisbon to access complementary means of diagnosis and therapy in medium-complexity procedures”.

The private investment, which will be located in the parish of Vilarelho, “aims to respond to the needs of the 230 thousand inhabitants of Alto Minho, not counting the potential of the Galician territory”.

According to the municipality, “60 direct jobs are expected to be created in the area of ​​health and support for hospital activity”.
